Capital Campaign

Running Rebels Community Organization (RRCO) has occupied a 95+ year old building since 1999 and was able to purchase it in 2005, fulfilling the vision of a permanent home for our agency.  A Capital Campaign Committee was created in 2005 which identified the needs and developed a strategic plan to renovate the building.

The Capital Campaign began on April 26, 2006 and has raised over $600,000 in cash donations, contributions & in-kind services. The total project cost is $2,595,000 to renovate our existing facility and build a new basketball/fitness center addition.

The campaign will benefit the 1300+ youth that we will serve annually, along with the local community.  Our employees will benefit by having updated facilities to do their work.

Phase I (Complete)($150,000)

  • Design/Architectural Plans
  • Project Cost Estimate/Obtain Bids
  • Roof Repair/Replacement
  • Window Sill Replacement
  • Installation of New Windows
  • Installation of New Gate and Fence
  • Outdoor Basketball Court

Phase II (Construction in Progress) ($450,000)

  • Electrical System Replacement
  • Plumbing System Replacement
  • Fire Protection System Replacement
  • Elevator Replacement
  • 1st & 3rd Floor Bathrooms

Phase III (Fundraising in Progress) ($245,000)

  • HVAC System Replacement
  • Floor by Floor Room Renovations

Phase IV ($250,000)

  • Exterior Building Renovations
  • Front Parking Lot

Phase V ($1,500,000)

  • Gym/Fitness Center Addition

There are two major components of the capital plan:

  • Renovate existing building
  • Construct new building addition

RRCO continues to make progress in achieving the goal of renovating the existing facility. The economic downturn however, has made fundraising more challenging. Due to the cost of Phase I and other capital expenses, RRCO has only $117,000 applied to the Phase II goal of $929,516. However, RRCO was fortunate to receive word of a $300,000 grant from the Elizabeth Brinn Foundation before year’s end. RRCO will continue the efforts to raise funds for this important phase of work.
