The Milwaukee Violence Free Zone is a collaboration between the Center For Neighborhood Enterprise, The Latino Community Center, Milwaukee Public Schools and The Running Rebels Community Organization.  The purpose of the project is to join with MPS teachers, safety workers and administrative staff to assist with decreasing school suspensions and violent incidents, work closely with students who may have been labeled as “chronic disrupters” to assist them with overcoming their personal barriers to academic success, and to improve the overall safety and learning atmosphere of the school.

Currently, there are 8 VFZ schools in Milwaukee: North Division, South Division, Custer, Washington, Bay View, Marshall, Bradley Tech, and Madison.  Running Rebels Community Organization operates within 4 of those schools (North Division, Custer, Washington and Marshall) while the Latino Community Center operates within South Division, Bay View, Bradley Tech, and Madison.

The Center for Neighborhood Enterprise oversees and provides technical assistance to several Violence Free Zone sites throughout the United States.  To learn more about the Violence Free Zone movement, visit the website for the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise at www.cneonline.org.
