Basketball has a long history within the Running Rebels Community Organization, a long list of Milwaukee’s finest basketball players over the last thirty years have came through the program. Basketball is used as a tool to teach, to build self esteem and confidence while at the same time present opportunities. The Running Rebels compete in a highly competitive AAU circuit that sends them traveling all across the country. In order to beat the best, Running Rebels maintain a rigorous practice schedule. Basketball is important; however at the end of the day, building a better person is the goal. Through relationship building and school monitoring, Rebel players are allowed to flourish and reach their full potential, on and off the court.

BASKETBALL NEWS
Exciting Rebel News!!!!!
Kyle Weaver becomes the first REBEL ever taken in the NBA Draft!
Kyle Weaver Selected as 38th Overall Pick in NBA Draft 6/26/2008 ~ Former Washington State University men's basketball guard Kyle Weaver was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats as the No. 38th overall pick in the in the second round of the 2008 NBA draft Thursday.
Kyle Weaver is the first Running Rebels Basketball Program Alumni to be drafted to the NBA. Kyle Weaver became a part of the Running Rebels Basketball Program in 2000. Kyle, a Beloit, WI native, came in contact with Running Rebels Basketball Program while competing in local tournaments. Kyle was invited by the program to be a part of our elite traveling team when it was made apparent that he was a great talent and that the team he was participating with did very little traveling to compete nationally. He and his family believed he would benefit from being a part of the Running Rebels Basketball Program to gain national exposure competing at the highest level of amateur competition with hopes of earning a scholarship. Kyle has continued to make the program proud on and off the court throughout his basketball career. From a high school standout to a college standout, all the way to a NBA draftee.
The Running Rebels Community Organization congratulates Kyle Weaver for his extreme dedication, commitment and leadership. He is a true example of what you can achieve when you set your sights on a goal, remain focused and disciplined, and believe in yourself enough to overcome the obstacles that will surely come your way. He is a true role model for our next generation of youth who need to realize that despite their current circumstances, they can achieve their dreams.
